I remembered this weekend that I forgot to pay the renewal fee for my P.O. Box in Tiburon. To be honest, I can't remember the last time I actually went to Tiburon to pick up my mail. It was probably at least 3 months ago. I doubt I actually use that P.O. Box anymore for anything, except for the 401k notifications from my old job. Speaking of my 401k, I vaguely remember that I got a mail last year asking me to do move my 401k to an IRA. Unfortunately I'm sure I lost that mail, so I have to call the place and find out what's going on, if they even remember who I am now (it's been 3 years since I stopped working at the company where I got the IRA from).
I think I paid about 8k of my own money (pre-tax) into the 401k, and the company was contributing some money to it. I remember the 401k was up to 14k at one point, though the last time I checked the value it was down to 7k. :( But 7k in a retirement fund is better than nothing. I can't believe I haven't put any other money into retirement, but considering how much I pay for rent in Marin, it's hard to put money aside. That's why I need to find a new job that pays better than what I'm currently getting.
Speaking of work, I had to leave a raid last Wednesday because of work. My boss called me at 7:30 p.m. and said I needed to come into work early to debug this program written by another programmer at the company. I said that would be fine. During the Jaraxxus fight, my boss called me again, and said I needed to go into work IMMEDIATELY to debug the program. I asked if it was okay if I waited until 10 p.m., but apparently that was not an option. According to my boss, we needed this program running so we could send out this data file to a particularly annoying client by midnight tonight, or this client was going to send a complaint letter to the Vice President of the company. So I had to drive 20 miles to go to work then worked on this program for 3 hours, before I got the chance to go home. It was pretty sucky. They did let me go home early on Thursday but I was still peeved about having to ditch the raid I was leading.
I went to the DMV today to take care of a title transfer thing. I arrived there at 7:35 a.m. (25 minutes before the opening) and there were already fifteen there people. By the time the DMV opened, there were forty-five people waiting in line. I got the title transfer completed by 8:15 a.m. then headed off to work.
