I saw something pretty keen today, for upwardly mobile IT professionals; translucent plastic business cards!

500 dollars for 1000 business cards (1 ink). it's expensive, but certainly a way to make a memorable first impression on a prospective employer.
Speaking of employers, it's my last full day of work today. A contractor came in and he's taking apart the desks (I guess to move them to Chicago). I went with some co-workers over to the Slow Club to have a last lunch.
A recruiter called me today and asked me if I'd be willing to commute to Sebastopol to work for <established publishing firm>. I think it would be pretty cool to work at <epf>. But I'm a bit undecided as to whether I'd be enthuasiastic about driving 45 miles one way each day, for a job. I guess it's something I'd have to think about. While it would certainly would be good to add a "major company" to my resume, I have to consider whether I want to work to live, or live to work. I know I'd be be more inclined to drive 45 miles one way, for a gaming company. *grin*
Tomorrow will be a short day at work, and then I'll be heading over to my mother's house to help her with the final housecleaning/packing stuff before she moves to Cambria on Saturday morning. My mother was nagging me about going to medical school (ugh). No matter how many times I tell her I'm not interested in medical school, she loves to bring up how her friends/co-workers went to medical school and how they're really happy with their lives. I guess it's just the Asian parents want their kids to go to medical school/law school thing.
It's been four years since I graduated from college. I think I've worked for for 3 years, 2 months of that time. It took me six months to find my first job, and around October I was studying for the GRE and thinking I'd be applying to grad school. I never did end up taking the GRE, even though I rescheduled it twice, and ended up forgetting to cancel it, which cost me 235 bucks total, 155 bucks to schedule it, and 40 bucks per reschedule (doh).
I think I'll enjoy having next week off. I have so much to do next week, such as:
1. Work on my PHP class. I ordered the books online at Amazon but haven't received them yet. I'd like to do the first assignment this weekend.
2. Schedule an optometrist's appointment. I haven't gotten an eye exam in almost four years.
3. Schedule a physical. I haven't gotten a physical in almost ten years. *gasp*
4. Buy new glasses.
More stuff but I can't remember it right now. I gotta finish up the SQL query then check my phone messages/e-mails.
