I live in Corte Madera (Marin County) and I work in the Soma district of San Francisco, so that means I have a 40 minute commute each way to work each day.   I've been commuting to here for almost two years now, but I still get freaked out when I see the driver behind me talking on a cell phone, especially if it seems like it's someone who gets emotional on the phone (i.e. waving hands, distorting face).   It seems like people who talk on cell phones drive way too close to me, or weave in and out and traffic randomly without using turn signals or even bothering to look at cars behind them or on the side of them.  I try to change lanes if I see someone like that behind me. 

It's another slow day at work again.  I don't know if I should struggle with the front-end for the Oracle DB again.

There was a power outage yesterday, so all of the company servers were offline, until this morning (the important ones are in a co-location facility).   But it was funny seeing people trying to figure out which server controlled the wiki, the cvs, bugzilla, etc.   The only person who knows how all the servers are set up, doesn't even work here anymore.  He found a job working at an online real estate listing company upstairs, but he's on retainer to come down here to do IT consulting (since he's the only person who knows how all the servers are set up).    So he's getting paid separately to do two jobs, while only working the same hours as a single job.  Sweet setup. 

I was browsing randomly on the net, and found this.  It's a surgical simulation game set in the year 2018.  In this game you get to use surgery to save the world!  o.O

I applied to a systems analyst job at the Marin County Court a couple of weeks ago.  It would have been a perfect position for me, in terms of commute, and skills/responsibilities.  I got a letter in the mail yesterday saying that they were suspending the search process to find people for that position, due to budget cuts.  Ugh.  :(
